One of the most compelling and heart-felt reasons I am in this business is because of my strong desire to serve. I want to serve others and attend to your emotional needs through this process, whether that be celebration or grief. Sometimes, it takes a another person to step in and walk beside you through the grieving process. Or, you might have more photos than time but want a personalized product of your pet to cherish. We can help!
Personalized Pet Tales began in the summer of 2007. We kept two dogs for friends during their vacations, so our canine clan grew to six temporarily. What a blast we had! Samson, the 6-month-old beagle, got to see horses and cows for the first time. And Rex, the 7-year-old Golden Retriever/Great Pyranees mix, enjoyed his own version of camping by lying under the camper top for afternoon naps.
Being a creative sort, I thought it would be a treat to send Samson and Rex home with scrapbooks about their adventures. With photos and whimsical layouts, we proved Rex took his meds every morning, Samson peed in the kiddie pool, and everyone—including our four canines—had a great time.
Our guests went home with a “What I Did at Evert Summer Camp 2007” book to show their parents. Rex’s parents displayed his book beside the family portrait on the mantel. As they laughed at his adventures, they encouraged me to make these type of books for others.
Personalized Pet Tales was born! The name says it all. Personalized because the photo captions are from the pet’s point of view and because it’s all about them.
Pet because the subject of the books primarily is our pets, our furry companions, and our best buds. Whether they’re still with us or have ventured over the Rainbow Bridge, these fur kids are an integral part of our lives.
And, Tales because of the play on words of a story and the appendage at the back end of a pet.
I’ve since ventured into making books about babies, military life, and for non-profit pet-related groups. But the personalized part is still there.
We use the old-fashioned method of cut & paste with our products, so you can feel the touch of the pages on textured paper. You can see the shadow from a 3-D embellishment, and you can rub the photo to feel close to your fur kid who’s crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.
